Bottom Line?

There are passages in the bible which can clarify other passages. In this case, the passage below by Luke is clarified by the Roman's passage.

Between them, they simplify what God expects from people.....for Salvation.

Luke 20:25 (KJV)

"And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's."

Romans 13:7-10 (NRSV)

"Pay to all what is due them—taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due. Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet"; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, "Love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law."

To sum up in today's vernacular, there are two things one needs to accomplish before entering the Gates of Heaven:
  1. You must believe, in your heart, that Jesus died on the cross so our sins could be forgiven; that He ascended into Heaven; that all sins (past, present, and future) are forgiven; that Jesus IS Lord and Savior.
  2. As stated in Romans (above) you must love your neighbor as yourself.
Piece of cake, right? Not quite. Gaining "Salvation" requires big changes in beliefs and attitudes.....it requires commitment.

Keep in mind that in Noah's day, the entire population was wiped out except for eight people (Noah & family) and the animals. Clearly, a teeny percentage of the population heeded God's wishes.

Don't be a member of the larger population when Jesus returns to collect His believers.
